Community Safety Network
In addition to delivering a diversity of cost-free prevention efforts to community members of all ages, we support lasting change in the lives of individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. 24 hours a day, CSN offers professional staff and trained volunteer advocates to provide shelter, assist in safety planning, make resource referrals, and perhaps most importantly, empathize with the complex dynamics of domestic violence. All resources are free and confidential.

In 2021:
CSN provided 2,337 safe nights for 44 adults and 25 children.
The emergency shelter had occupants every single day, and 5 transitional housing units were filled to capacity 365 days.
The average length of stay in emergency shelter increased by 21%.
Since 2019, helpline calls doubled.
The intensity of client needs in 2021 was exponentially higher.
Pandemic-exacerbated concerns around housing, extreme cost of living, lack of childcare, food insecurity, and financial tumult compounded the challenges that survivors faced. Problems compounded and intensified.
Clearly, these emergency services are absolutely critical to many families. Rapid, professional, compassionate intervention can help a survivor make a change before it’s too late.
But if we are truly to eliminate the problems of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking, we have to start earlier. We must move upstream, and empower all young people to discover their self-confidence, strong communication skills, and an understanding of healthy relationships.

Statewide, 93% of youth who spent time in a crisis shelter returned home or to a less-restrictive environment. Of those in group homes, 72% enjoyed the same success. This speaks to connecting with them at a critical moment. Through intervention, support, therapy, and skill-building, these young adults made changes that will impact the rest of their lives. Health, success, and stability are more likely part of their futures — because of programs like those at TYFS.
Though these interventions were clearly critical in each case, placement in crisis shelters, group homes, or other treatment programs represented only 14% of the services offered by youth services across Wyoming.
86% of the services provided were preventative.
Mentoring, empowerment, advocacy, therapy, asset building, suicide prevention, education, community service, relationship building — these efforts help children and families never reach the more intense levels of support our program offers. Connecting with a child, young adult, or family at the right time can truly make a lifetime of difference.

The Powerful Impact of GST So Far…
As Covid inflicted new levels of strain on individuals, families, and resources, more of our community members were at elevated risk for violence, exploitation, and trauma. Our intertwining services and support have become more important than ever before. And in the coming months and years, they will continue to be critical.
In 2021, our combined basic operating costs were $4 million — 85% of which went directly to client services.
Primarily due to state funding cuts, our organizations were tasked with raising $1.6 million in private philanthropy simply to ensure these essential services remained available.
At the same time, our state funding dropped precipitously. TYFS lost nearly $175,000 and CSN lost $25,000 — and those losses are projected to continue in coming years.
State funding diminishing, community need rising — Growing Stronger Together has been indispensable in bridging this ever-expanding gap.
